Day 2 Part II (Budapest)

Ok... Thus I continue my narrative - which I suspect will get sparser and sparser as twin and I get more tired. =P

This entire place, named Castle District is ach served by a castle bus. But I think twin and I walked half e length of it while going from place to place. It was good exercise - prob in anticipation of all the snacking we'll be doing like now when couch potato-ing at TPH. =) Dear readers, it'd be nice if you'd like to contribute to our biscuit and chips fund - then you'll prob see more pictures and hear more. hahaha

Walking around, we came across this church. We tried obstinately to get in - tugging at all the visible entrances.. but in vain. We walked by it 3 times to look for entrances - and hm, each time we had to walk by this man who's prob peeing at the wall in a corner... By e 3rd time - when we've decided to move on, the man is also done. What a para of text to attach to a church photo...

This is part of the Buda castle as well. this part houses a library I think... coz we saw many shelves of books peering into one of e windows.

This is the little girl who kindly obliged to taking a photo w us. The first of the little dumpling series on this trip. Hee I love watching kids all wrapped up, cuddly and all. =P Anw, this is outside the Magyar Nemzeti Galeria.
Photo below:

Isn't it beautiful... Took this from the Pest side of Budapest (yes. Budapest is ach Buda side + Pest side; we aren't kidding you.) This place houses many art pieces (5 levels of them ach. And it's free entry =P It's twin's 1st art gallery.=))
Was a lil sad we couldn't appreciate the pieces as they should be. But then again - these works are very nationalistic (I feel) - reflective of Hungarian life past and now. There was 1 particular piece that struck me - and prob twin as well: this 24x20 photo collage of a single cross junction in a day. This person took a photo at the same angle every 3 minutes and put it together into a collage. It's cool... Wonder what will it be like to have a collage of me - 24x20 = ok. that'll be quite gross. haha Cuz I'll have none of that lack of consciousness a road has to offer..

Moving on...

This is lunch at Paprika - Deak Ter. One of those places featured in Lonely Planet - that we chanced upon. haha Deak Ter is no where near castle district btw. It's ach their town area - BUT we had a 72 hr transport pass - so of cuz we'd exploit it to the best of our abilities. Plus Buda didn't seem to have food. =P This meal is good stuff though! The starchy thing at the side is like little mee hoon kueh and then the pork with sauce is kinda salty. Twin had beef soup as well, as featured in the same pic. haha Ya i know we're sharing food again. But what's wrong w that? =P

This is St Anne's Cathedral which we passed by on the way to Matyas Templom. And this place... prob the first cathedral in Budapest which we entered. Said a little prayer there for a safe journey and a fruitful and peaceful 5 months, as well as happiness and gd health for our family and friends back home. =) And that - incidentally would be what we pray for at each cathedral we entered then.
This is Matyas Templom (Matthias Church) by evening. Twin likes the spikey stuff in the architecture. More about its background and stuff possibly in the next entry by twin - cuz we were quite late in reaching the place... and we decided to do a good tour the next morning instead. =)
This is the Fisherman's Bastion. Hahaha contrary to twin's beliefs, there is no fish architecture here. Yeah. In fact, we took many pictures from this place with its really awesome view of Budapest w/o realizing that it's the Bastion. Hee 2 foolish little ignorant girls. Ah well. Good stuff are like that. You don't have to know it's the real thing to appreciate it. =) hahaha In fact, we actually thought some other church down the road was the Bastion cuz there was a sculpture in front and twin said "Fish!" ahhaha It wasn't la k... Not even remotely...
Thus ends our 2nd day as beginner backpackers minus backpacks =) I think I'll spare you the details abt how we got hungry and bought a lot of pastry/biscuits =P hahaha
