Postcarding - Day 2 @ Budapest, Hungary PART I

On day 2, we decided to do some serious sight-seeing. We r after all, not very seasoned backpackers. Well, people do have to start somewhere. So we decided to play safe and go to where's nearest to us - that happens to be Buda; Castle District.
"There's a very nice lookout point there" so says our hostel owner(s)... who's btw a nice lady who gave twin a free cup of coffee on our last day in Budapest.

That decides our first destination:

(This is only e half way point...) But you can see the green bridge in e background - which incidentally is the name of our hostel. =)
And then there's ach this much more to climb...
Twin and I are panting a lil like 2 old ladies, swearing we would exercise a lil more - btw there's snow outside our TPH now, so... I don't really know if we'll ach end up hibernating or sth.And then, we met this huge dog who doesn't really like us. He has a strong doggy smell - but that's not e point. E point is that he's up to our knees in height. Think twin is scared of him. hahaha But it's not like e dog wants to take a photo w us... he kept running away. hohoho
That's me w the liberation monument at the top. A little background:
The Liberation Monument (the work of Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl) was erected in 1947 to commemorate the liberation of the country and in honour of the soldiers of the liberating Soviet Army ( today we call it occupation ). The female figure holding the palm of victory together with the pedestal is 40 metres (132 ft.) high. In front of it is the statue of a Soviet soldier; of the two accessory figures one vanquishes the symbolic figure of destruction and devastation, the other one raises high the torch of progress. The names of fallen Soviet soldiers are carved on the pedestal.
Twin went to a lot of trouble to make the entire height of the monument fit in. =P Thx twin! =)
And this is e view that greets us from the top... Not the most beautiful of views. But it does have its charms - the Green Bridge across the Danube in Hungary - Queen of the Danube.
Next batch of photos... half a mind to start another new post so that I don't have to shift the photos again. hee That's what I'll do. =P
